English Barristers Abroad

Barristers are the pre-eminent trial lawyers in the courts of England and Wales, and many also appear as advocates in Caribbean and Far Eastern courts. The oral tradition of trial advocacy still thrives in the courts of England and Wales, and throughout the Caribbean, and it is thus the barrister, as trial advocate, who determines the strategy and presentation of contentious legal business.

Barristers with specialist practices also act as consultant advisers within their specialist areas.

We are well placed to liaise with clients and with their professional colleagues, in London and abroad. As barristers’ engagements are case specific, they do not compete for business with their professional counterparts.

3 Stone Building Barristers

We have a wealth of experience in advising US clients and attorneys on English law and representing them in English courts, providing expert testimony on English law and procedure in US courts, and coordinating US, UK and/or Caribbean legal matters. Members of chambers with specialist qualifications appear in and conduct arbitrations and mediations in the US and the Caribbean.

Teresa Rosen Peacocke is dual qualified as a barrister and New York attorney and appears both in the UK and as co-counsel in US courts. She is also a qualified arbitrator and mediator.

Members of 3 Stone Buildings specialise primarily in commercial litigation conducted in the High Court of Justice in England and Wales, including the Court of Appeal, and in the House of Lords. Barristers in chambers represent corporations, including banks and investment and financial entities, insurers and underwriters, and individual clients, both lay and professional. Specialist areas of practice include private international law and practice, real estate, pensions, professional liability, partnership, trusts, estates, probate and taxation, equity and equitable fraud, bankruptcy and private client matters.
