Practice
Oliver practises in all areas of Chancery and commercial litigation.
In particular, he specialises in the following areas: trusts and equity, property and land law, pensions, boundary disputes, tax, wills and probate, Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 cases, insolvency (both personal and corporate), companies, intellectual property, professional negligence, general contract and negligence disputes, Consumer Credit Act and other debt related disputes, insurance and reinsurance matters and licensing.
Oliver has litigation experience in the High Court and Court of Appeal, and in petitioning for leave to appeal to the House of Lords.
A significant proportion of his practice includes drafting and advisory work. In particular, Oliver has experience in drafting pensions documents and trust deeds.

- Bakwin v Sotheby's & Others (2006) High Court (Claim for return of stolen paintings and damages; validity of arbitration clause; service abroad)
- Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre v Natural History Museum (2007) High Court (repatriation of human remains held by museum. Settled following a mediation)
- Jarrom v Sellars [2007] EWHC 1366 (Ch) (Costs following the abandonment of a probate claim)
- Yewbelle Ltd v London Green Developments Ltd.& Anor [2007] EWCA Civ 475 (Contract for the sale of land; implied terms. Petition for leave to appeal to the House of Lords refused)
- NATIXIS v WestLB & ors (2007) in the Commercial Court (Acted as junior counsel to Joe Smouha QC and Andrew Twigger on behalf of an investment bank in a claim in negligence and/or fraud against an arranger, lead manager and private equity firm in relation to the Box Clever securitisation. Claims settled before judgment).
